Keeping a community informed, on deadline.

Union Park Kingston is a planned mixed-use neighbourhood on the site of the former Prison for Women, developed by Siderius Developments Ltd. We added a new 2026 Application page and refreshed the whole website ahead of a public meeting at City Hall.

The goal

Siderius had filed a new Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment application to repurpose the former Prison for Women building, including a year-round indoor artisan food market. With a public meeting set for October 8, 2026, residents, neighbours and future vendors needed one clear, trustworthy place to read about the proposal. The project's earlier planning work had been commended for its transparency, and the website needed to keep that standard.

What we did

  • A new 2026 Application page. We built a dedicated page that explains the Block 2 proposal in plain language, with the market renderings and the full set of submitted planning documents.
  • A site-wide refresh. At the same time, we updated the existing pages, from Vision and Timeline to the Image Library, News and FAQ, so the whole site told one current story.
  • Ways to take part. A Become a Vendor form for future market tenants and a comments section for residents give people a direct line to the project team.
  • Built on the existing platform. We worked within the site's WordPress setup, so the client's team could keep publishing updates without learning a new system.
  • Tested before launch. We checked every form with the client before the site went live.

The result

The refreshed site launched on September 29, 2026, nine days before the public meeting. Anyone curious about the plans, from neighbours to would-be vendors, could find the proposal, the renderings and the documents in one place and share their thoughts directly.
