A new website should do more than look good on launch day. It should load quickly, read clearly on a phone and make it easy for the right people to get in touch. Before any site we build goes live, we work through the same list.
Start with the question people are asking
Every page should answer one question well. Your homepage answers "Is this business right for me?" A service page answers "Can they do what I need, and what happens next?"
Check it on a phone first
Most visitors will see your site on a phone before they ever see it on a laptop. We review every page on small screens for tap targets, readable text and forms that are quick to fill in. Speed matters here too, as our guide to Core Web Vitals explains.
Make the next step obvious
- A clear call to action near the top of each key page
- A phone number that can be tapped to call
- A short contact form that asks only for what you need
- A confirmation message so people know the form worked
Set up tracking before launch, not after
Analytics, form tracking and Google Search Console should be in place on day one. Otherwise the first few months of data are lost, and those months are when you learn the most about how people use the new site.
Accessibility belongs on the list as well. Here is what Ontario businesses need to know about AODA. Planning a new site? Talk to our website team.
